I lead acquisitions, cataloging, preservation and discovery of tangible and digital collections at the Library of Congress, comprising more than 600 members of staff.
A few things I'm working on now: the transition to a digital-forward acquisitions model in the
Library’s Digital Collections Strategy, the transition from
Voyage to Folio, and moving toward more inclusive subject headings.
Previously, I was the LC's first director of digital strategy, where I worked on digital transformation across the institution and authored the Library’s first
Digital Strategy. During my time there, we launched the crowdsourcing program
By the People, which invites the public to engage with and improve access to Library collections. Previously, I was the first chief of
National Digital Initiatives, where we launched
LC Labs, the Library’s digital innovation team, which incubated popular experiments like
Citizen DJ and
Newspaper Navigator. I joined LC in 2012 as a software engineering manager leading the development of IT systems used to manage digital collections. Before that, I worked on digital transformation and metadata standards at the U.S. Government Publishing Office.
